Our Mission
Advocating for all students and standing by each one to promote high expectations and success, the school counselors at Walden Middle School enhance the Comprehensive School Counseling Program through a proactive, collaborative approach to ensure equity and access for each unique student. Supported by a devoted staff and invested parents, the Walden School Counseling Program ensures that all students are engaged in academic, social/emotional and career development.
Meet Our Team
Walden Middle School has two full-time School Counselors, one full-time Social Worker, and one full-time School Nurse. The four of us work as a team to serve all students at Walden.
Sara came to the Park Hill School District in 2018, after teaching and counseling for 14 years in a previous district. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Arizona State University, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from The University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University. Most recently in 2017, Sara became a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist in the state of Missouri.
Katherine began working in the Park Hill School District in 2010 as a school social worker. Mrs. Tormey Kraai received her undergraduate degree from William Jewell College and a masters degree in Social Work from UMKC. Prior to coming to Park Hill she worked in other school districts, as well as two crisis centers for children and adults.

Kara is brand new to Park Hill for the 2020-2021 school year. She comes to us from Omaha, Nebraska. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a Spanish Minor in 2005 from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Shortly after she began teaching Elementary Spanish in Omaha. She received her Master’s Degree in K-12 School Counseling in 2015 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. From 2016 to 2019 she worked as an elementary school counselor and transitioned into a middle school counselor for the 2019-2020 school year. When not researching and/or learning about trends in school counseling, she enjoys spending time with family and cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers! GO BIG RED!
Heather joined the Park Hill School District in 2019. Heather worked at Centerpoint Medical Center in critical care before starting at Walden Middle School. Prior to that Heather had an extensive corporate career at Hallmark Cards where she was a meeting and event planner. Heather earned her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Research College of Nursing and also has a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Finance / minor in Economics from Park University.
